Karla Esquivel is an attorney who has been in practice for over ten years. Her specialty is in corporate law and real estate transactions, and was in charge of the legal department of one of the biggest and well known real estate developers in the state of Sonora. Her experience includes overall counsel on the creation of new business entities, business transactions and all stages for commercial and residential real estate developments, including entitlements, funding, construction, and marketing.
For many years she was the in-house general counsel for one of Sonora’s largest real estate developer. She was in charge of putting together all the entitlements for a master planned community, including obtaining environmental and construction authorizations, permits and licenses, execution of agreements and contracts to secure funding for construction, and all other required legal and regulatory compliance. She participated, negotiated and documented several financing rounds, including a $21md, $4.3md, and $10md loans from different Mexican banks and U.S. lenders. She formed the condominium regimes for two of the principal developments in Rocky Point, Mexico. She represented and advised a Mexican developer on several joint ventures to develop different projects, including a marina, a mediterranean village with condos and commercial areas, a shopping mall, a beach club, and the first branded hotel in Rocky Point.
Her experience includes Mexican notarial law, as she was counselor on a public notary, where along with the Notary Public she advised many business transactions.
As founding member of the Rocky Point Bar, participated in the organization of different conferences and courses, and she also represented a founding member on the Real Estate Developers State Association.
